Meet The Team

Meet Inas! She’s an Infrastructure Engineering Manager at Unifonic. She's described by friends and colleagues as a great boss, fun colleague, master chef, and devoted mom. With women only representing 40% of engineering & computer science students in MENA, we asked Inas some questions about her love of engineering, balancing work and life, and what she'd say to young girls considering careers in engineering.

What does a day in the life of an engineer at Unifonic look like?
It is all about- challenging others and being challenged by others, receiving and providing support, and plenty of communication.

What do you enjoy the most about being an engineer?
Challenges are what keep me going as life would be meaningless without them. Overcoming them gives me a great sense of pride and accomplishment.

Did you meet resistance when you decided you wanted to become an engineer?
My family was initially skeptical of me attending engineering school because I was the first woman in my family to do so. But I wasn't going to let that stop me from pursuing my ambition, especially since no one could tell me what I should or shouldn't be.

How do you balance career and home life?
It is safe to state that a mother's work is one of the most difficult in the world and balancing it with a job is presumably quite challenging. However, I believe that everything is achievable with a family that works well together and provides a lot of support. My family and I share obligations and understand our roles extremely well, which makes balancing my job and personal life much easier.

What advice would you give to young girls considering a career in Engineering?
Do not be frightened to pursue a career as an engineer because you will be a member of the community that shapes the future. Furthermore, the sense of accomplishment that you will feel while on this path is unparalleled, to say the least. Anything is possible, and the only thing that stands in your way of realizing your full potential is you.
